Best Laid Plans and All That Stuff

I had planned on showing you the pictures of my destroyed dining room tonight. However, when my family came over yesterday to help us pack the USB cable to my camera ended up in a box. Of course I have no idea which box it maybe in and I do not feel like opening them to find it. I figured I could use Jerry's camera but he loaned it to his brother for his upcoming trip to Brazil. Now I do have a camera phone but Verizon for some reason does not allow me to email my pictures. So I guess what I am trying to tell you is that you should not expect any pictures around here until some time after the week of August 11th. So instead of seeing evidence imagine a dining room full of boxes waiting to go to their new home.

The hardest part about being pregnant and moving is that I can not do anything. I feel perfectly fine and think I should be able to move everything but I can't. It was hard for me to just sit on the couch yesterday and give people bubble wrap while everyone else did the physical labor. Now I will admit that I am one lazy person but that bothered even me. Plus I feel very guilty about poor Jerry having to take a weeks vacation to paint the new place, move boxes and supervise the movers while I sit at work. Wait, if I have to be to be at work maybe I shouldn't feel so bad after all! Until next time ....

Wonderful Weekend

I just had one of the best weekends I can remember in quite a while. As of 5:45pm on Friday I was on vacation for the next week. Usually this is the week we would head up to the house in the UP but with baby and moving expenses we could not justify going up there, especially with gas at $4.20 or more a gallon. However, I knew we needed to get away, alone, for at least a weekend before the baby is born. So I decided that we should go to a bed and breakfast for the weekend. I did some searching and finally found a wonderful place in Holland. It was so relaxing and beautiful we did not want to leave. Would you want to leave this?

We left Saturday morning in a torrential downpour. We made it all the way to Royal Oak and stopped at the Redcoat Tavern for lunch. I will admit that I had never been to this landmark but the food made me realize what I was missing. I had the Cubano and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Once we got back on the road the rain stopped and the sun came out. We made it to Holland around 2:30pm and had some time to kill before we could check in. That is when hubby found thrift store heaven. We went to 3 different thrift stores and found quite a bit of baby stuff. A lot of books, a Winnie the Pooh wall hanging and one of those under the mattress monitors that sets off an alarm if the baby doesn't move for 30 seconds. Once we checked into the B&B we took a nap and then got ready to go to dinner. We went to Boatwerks where we had another delicious meal. It was so nice to spend some quality time with the hubby without the distractions we have at home.

Sunday we woke up and had a delicious full breakfast. If you have not had the B&B experience I highly recommend it! We hung out in the backyard by the woods for awhile before we reluctantly had to check out. We headed downtown and hung out at a little coffee shop until the few stores that open on Sunday opened. We walked around quite a bit and went in a very cute baby store called Tip Toes where I bought some cute animal shaped bath toys. Of course once I saw the yarn shop was open I went in and made a purchase.

Some Regia sock yarn from the Kaffe Fassett line. The store was very nice but the owner made one of my major pet peeves. I hate staff who are on you from the moment you walk in the door. Please say hello and ask me if I need anything and then let me be. DO NOT walk around while I am trying to browse and give me the hard sell. Thankfully some other people came in and saved me from the over solicitous owner. Then we went to lunch at the 8th Street Grille and sadly headed home. It was a wonderful and relaxing time and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Today was back to work for Jerry and I am sorting and purging some stuff to prepare for our move in 4 weeks!

On a baby note I am 31 weeks today and here is the bump:

I can not believe that people are still telling me I don't look pregnant! Are they crazy?? Until next time ....

Relaxing Weekend

So I hope all of you had a nice weekend. Mine was very relaxing. I took a half day of vacation on Thursday because I had to take a gestational diabetes class at Beaumont hospital. My doctor thought I would benefit even though I am already a Type 2 diabetic. However, the class is held only on Tuesday and Thursday from noon-3pm. What a way to be flexible to us working folks! It was interesting though and I learned that I am not eating enough. My meals are fine but my snacks are to small. Oh twist my arm and make me eat more! Once I got home I took a nap and made dinner.

On Friday I stayed home while the hubby went to his friend's house to get my brakes fixed. Now there is no more grinding noise when I go to stop. Then we had a nice dinner and went to bed early. Saturday was my cousin's open house so we went there for a few hours and then Sunday we again stayed in and relaxed. This was a nice calm before the storm.

We move in a little over a month. The baby could be delivered in a little over a month. Are you sensing the stress that is going on here? All we can do is take it one day at a time and get as much done as possible. I am on vacation next week so I will be sorting all the paper and junk in the closet of death. I just need to keep repeating to myself "this to shall pass" and take a deep breath.

On the crafting front I have continued to make pretty good progress on the Winnie the Pooh latch hook kit. I would show you a picture but I am to lazy to find working batteries for the camera. Just take the last picture and add most of Pooh's head and the start of Tigger's head and you will get the point. Until next time ....

Happy Birthday America

Happy 232nd birthday America. Even though your people still have a long way to go to live up to the ideals you were founded on you're alright in my book!
