Phew it's over!

No not the gift knitting but I am happy Christmas is over. It was a nice day but it has taken until today for me to get back to normal. The edging finished on the blanket did not get completed but they understood and I am ready to start it now. I needed to take a couple of days off to recover!

My last completed object was a book sweater for my sister. Details located on Ravelry and my FO Blog.

I want to make one for myself now. I have plenty of yarn so that will be one of my 2010 projects.

I hope Santa was good to you - he sure was to us. I got a new purse from Jerry. He is also going to get my engagement ring fixed. One of the diamonds fell out back in April but luckily it has a lifetime guarantee so we only have to pay for labor. I miss wearing it so I can not wait to have it back. From my family I received Sock Innovation by Cookie A, the Saving Dinner cookbook, 2 Knitting mysteries (While My Pretty One Knits and Death by Cashmere), seasons 3 & 4 of Supernatural, the new Carrie Underwood and Tim McGraw CDs, a Borders gift card and some new pajama pants. Clark got a TON of stuff of course. He got new clothes, pajamas, toiletries and utensils. He also got a lot of toys and some books. The Mega Blocks and Little People were the popular choice this year! It was a great holiday but again I am glad it only comes once a year. Until next time ....

Thankful Thursday #8

Today I am thankful for -

1) That I have 99% of my gifts done. I just need to do the edging on the blanket for my brother & SIL.
2) That I got everything done this year. I even remember birthday cards for my SIL (she's a Christmas baby)
3) That today I was able to watch It's A Wonderful Life and White Christmas. Both make me think of my mom so it is a little bittersweet but I love both movies.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Until next time ....

Can it be done??

Can my gifts be done in time to wrap them Thursday night? I am not so sure. I started a book sweater for my sister yesterday and it is 2" from completion plus seaming. I am on the 7th of 9 repeats for the blanket for my brother and SIL. It will be tight but it may be possible.

Here are some modeled shots of Clark's vest. They are not the best but with his constant movement it is all I can do. I think his head has grown because it is very difficult to get over his head now but a month ago when I first tried it on him it was fine.

Next up is Sheldon. I had to sew a smile on him because he looked a little evil without it. The pattern was really quick and easy. I sewed his shell on because 1) his attachment panel came out to small and 2) it will work better with Clark anyway. I wouldn't want his shell to be lost one day!

Details as always located at the FO blog and Ravelry. Now I off to do some more knitting. Until next time ....

Thankful Thursday #7

This week I am thankful for the following:

1) That another present is done. I finished Clark's Sheldon yesterday so I have 2 gifts left to knit.
2) That the weather will be decent for Jerry's trip to Muskegon tomorrow to see his girls.
3) That Clark and I will be going to a childrens Christmas musical program at the library tomorrow.

Until next time ....

Thankful Thursday #6

I almost forgot to write this entry. So here is what I am thankful for today.

1) That I have a roof over my head and heat on such a cold and windy day.
2) That my hubby loves my cooking so much he would rather eat what I make than anything from a restaurant (I think he's crazy but that's not the point).
3) That Clark was so well behaved today when we were out shopping.

Until next time ....

Oh I'm Halfway There

Yesterday at knit night I finished another Christmas gift. This means I am halfway done with my holiday knitting! I am really starting to feel pretty good about where I am with my gifts. Again I hope I am not inviting the wrath of the knitting gods by being to confident.

This is a wine bottle cozy for my dad's fiance, Marion. I did not have a wine bottle to model it so I used a malt vinegar bottle that was to short and that is why it looks kind of wonky in the picture. I used some Wool-Ease that I got in a swap over 4years ago so I am glad to finally be able to put it to a good use. Details once again located at the FO Blog and Ravelry.

I am finally starting to get in the holiday spirit. I started Clark's Christmas shopping today. It is nice that he is still so young I can take him shopping with me and he will never remember. This weekend we will take him to see Santa and maybe see the light show in downtown Rochester. I may also bake and decorate Jerry's cut out sugar cookies. Oh and I need to finally get our tree up. So much to do so little time. Until next time ....

Christmas Knitting Update

This is going to be a picture heavy post so I apologize in advance. At the risk of incurring the wrath of the knitting gods I do have to say my Christmas knitting is going pretty well. I am still not sure if everything will get done but I am not stressing at all about it. So here are the updates as of today.

First up is the blanket for my brother and SIL. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft in Chocolate. Since they have 2 kids and a dog I wanted to use a yarn that was non-knitter friendly. I have done 2 sets of the blocks in the pattern and have 7 more to go. I started this Saturday at Tina's where she helped me untangle the HUGE knot the yarn had become. This is the only project that I may not be able to have done in time.

Next is the wine cozy for my dad's fiance. This is my first attempt at magic loop. I am finding the technique a little bit unwieldy but I think if I had nicer circulars I may actually like it. I have about 3.5" more to knit before starting the decreases. Then I need to get a cheap bottle of wine to go in it.

The final WIP I have to show you is Clark's Sheldon. I finished his feet at knit night last Wednesday. Now I need to knit the shell and put him together. This is the only gift that has to be done by Christmas but I am not worried.

Now I have 2 FO's to show off!

First up is the hat I made for my dad modeled by Clark's favorite robot. I used Paton's Classic Wool and finished this in 2 days. I think it will fit him perfectly and hope he will like it. I plan on getting him something else to go with it, maybe his favorite chocolate covered cherries! Details on my FO blog and Ravelry.

Finally is Clark's Christmas Vest. I had to redo the neck and armhole ribbing for two reasons. First, I did not read the pattern to see that the seams were to be sewn before the ribbing was done. The second reason was that the hole for Clark's head was WAAAAYYY to small. A large orange would not have fit through the hole let alone my kid's head which has been in the 95th percentile for circumference since birth. So I sewed the seams, used the larger needles for the ribbing and it fits perfectly. Once I get our tree up and we take our Christmas card picture I will show you a modeled shot. Again details on the FO blog and Ravelry.

All in all I am pretty pleased with how things are going. Not that I am trying to tempt you knitting gods so please do not smite me! Until next time ....

Thankful Thursday #5

I have decided to keep up with the Thankful Thursday concept. I think it is good for me personally to remember my blessings. I have been so mired down in the job search and rejection cycle and family holiday issues that I need to see the bright side. So without further ado today I am thankful for the following:

1) That Clark is walking so much. My back and Jerry's right shoulder are causing us a lot of pain and I think it is from carrying him around so much. Once he is more steady we can let him walk more when we are out and about.
2) That the I was able to get the yarn I need for my Christmas gifts on sale!
3) That I will be able to got to knitting club at Tina's on Saturday. I always have such a good time over there and I need the knitting time to work on these gifts.

Up next a finished object report. That means 1 project down and only 5 more to go. Until next time ....
