Sorry that I appeared to have fallen off the face of the Earth. We were up north on vacation last week and the week before that my BIL was in town for 10 days so I did not have time to write a post.
When we last left off I was having problems with the lace patterning on the vest after the armhole decreases. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong - decreasing 8 stitches at the beginning of the repeat instead of 4 - and was on my way. I did not finish in time to win a medal I still completed in 17 days my first adult sized garment Plus it fits!
I know these are horrible pictures but for now this is the best I can do. I am not completely happy with it. The arm length makes this more of a cap sleeved sweater than a vest. Plus it is a bit heavy weight wise. The pattern also left something to be desired. First, it states to do the ribbing in the smaller needle size but the pattern only calls for a size 8 needle. I used a size 6 for the ribbing and it worked. Also it way overestimated the yarn needed. According to the pattern I needed 4 skeins for my size but I only used 1.5 skeins. All in all though I feel this is not bad for a first garment. Until next time ....

Ravellenic Frustrations
I am experiencing some serious frustrations with my Ravellenic project and I am doubting my ability to finish on time. Now I did cast on and knit during the opening ceremonies. Last Sunday I finished the ribbing on the back and started on the lace cable portion. I cruised along and finished on Wednesday. Then came the armhole decreases which are apparently trying to kill me. I cannot get the lace pattern to line up correctly no matter what I do. Here is a picture although since it is black you cannot really see the problem very well.
I have knit and ripped back so many times I have lost count. No matter what I try the patterning just will not work. I finally cut the yarn and started on the ribbing for the front because I will never finish if I don't get a move on. I sent a PM on Ravelry to the designer for assistance so I am hoping she will answer. If not then I will ask for assistance at knit night on Wednesday. Unless one of you out there wants to take a look at the pattern and help me out. I am feeling really dumb that I can't figure this out as I am usually pretty good at reading my knitting. Oh well I am moving on and hope it will all work out in the end. Until next time ....

FO: Hugo the Monster
Clark loved the Hilda the Monster I made so much I hated to take it away from him. So I decided to make him one of his own.
This is Hugo the Monster. I love him and want to keep him for myself! However I will give him to Clark for his birthday.
I am quickly becoming a monster knitter. I have joined Team Knitabulls for the Ravellenic games. I plan on knitting some Owl Puffs as well as a Chelsea the Chatterbox. These on top of the Cabled Vest I will be knitting for Team Michigan will certainly keep me busy during the games. Until next time ....
