Yarn and a Movie Exchange

Yesterday I came home to the most wonderful package. I joined the Halloween themed Yarn and a Movie Swap on the FiberFlix Ravelry group. My partner Jinxsa really spoiled me.


I love how she wrapped everything in little Halloween themed bags. I never thought to do that and feel so stupid now. I just placed all of her stuff in a box, not very creative there!





Here are all the goodies laid out. A needle case with some Knit Picks DPNs, Sugar Free Turtles, Halloween goodies, Shaun of the Dead, popcorn, yummy smelling soap and some beautiful sock yarn.




The yarn is Smooshy Sock Yarn from Dream in Color. The colorway is called Deep Seaflower and I love it. Thanks Jinxsa for a wonderful swap! Until next time ....

Busy weekend - or is that productive?

So this was a busy weekend for me. I guess I should rephrase that and say I had a productive weekend.

The other day I received a wonderful package from the dishcloth exchange. I received a beautiful cloth, the cutest sock shaped point protectors, truffles and mints in the cutest knitting tin.



I also have to send a package out to someone. I finished the cloth last weekend and today I made some stitch markers to go with it.





So last night I finally sucked it up and started on my sock. The yarn is Dancing from Knit Picks gifted to me by the wonderful Kirsti. I think socks will be a slow project for me. The small needles and yarn scare me. At least I have great company in Lolly.



Now for the Project Spectrum pictures.

I am making a simple 2x2 rib afghan square for Warm Up America. The yarn is crappy Red Heart but I love the Royal Blue color.






I made these earrings today also. I love them and they were just as easy as stitch markers. I see more of these in my future.






So I need to get mentally prepared to go back to reality aka work tomorrow. Until next time ....

Let's Get This Started

It seems that when I want something or have my mind set on doing something I go at it full force. When I want it I want it NOW! That is how I was feeling earlier today about Project Spectrum. I had it in my mind that I was going to go through and find every blue, white or grey thing I own, photograph it and post it in this entry. Then I got to thinking that if I do that then I will have nothing else to show for this color group. So I decided that I would take a couple of pictures and leave the rest for future entries. So here they are.

I went through my stash and pulled out all my blue, white and grey yarn. I have a lot more in these shades than I thought I did. It is a nice mix of wool, acrylic and cotton.





Today is International Super Pajama Day. I love any day that celebrates staying in your jammies all day. I made my ensemble Project Spectrum and knitter friendly by wearing my blue and white sheep pj's.




I also have a FO to show you. I knit this cute dishcloth up yesterday. The details are located here. Now I need to find some other goodies and this cloth will go to live with my exchange partner.



Now I am off to finish watching the Super Bowl and do some knitting. I am going to cross off one of my New Year To Dos and work on some afghan squares in a pretty royal blue. Two birds one stone and all. Until next time ....

I love mail!

I do exchanges because I love getting mail. I loved having pen pals and getting letters from all over the country. Now as an adult knitting exchanges can bring me some of the same joy I felt as a tween. On Thursday I got a wonderful package in the mail from my monthly dishcloth exchange partner.

Here is my wonderful package from Cheri. She sent me two vanilla candles, a note on the cutest notecard (an angle thinking what to knit next) and her beautiful cloth.



This picture does not do justice to how beautiful this cloth is. It is done on DPNs so she should get bonus points for that! Thanks Cheri - I love it all!




I have been busy knitting away on my cloth for my exchange partner. Here is the finished product. It is the Wheatfields cloth from Dishcloth Boutique. The details are located here. It will be on its way to its new home tomorrow along with some stitch markers and other goodies. Now I need to start winding down the weekend and get ready for the week. At least it is only a 3 day work week - gotta love holidays! Until next time ....

Dishcloths and socks and packages - oh my!

I have been trying to write this post for 2 days but I never seem to get around to it. I better get going before I run out of steam again.

Here is the October KAL for the dishcloth group. It is sort of hard to see the pattern but it is a cat. I started this in black but I could not see the pattern well so I went with the hot orange instead. Details are here as always. A cute and easy pattern over all.

Here is my fuzzy foot progress. I was able to accomplish all of this last Wednesday. I worked on it while I was out knitting with my girls and then continued when I came home to watch Lost and Dancing with the Stars. It is an easy pattern and I am halfway through the heel flap. Although I did get a little overexcited and knit 4 inches instead of 3 for the cuff but oh well. I just have to make sure the next one matches.

Finally in the mail today to cheer up a dreary Tuesday I received my bookmark exchange package from my partner Lisa. She really spoiled me. She sent some chocolate (lavender flavored), chai tea, The Other Boleyn Girl (which sounds interesting) and her bookmark. Thank you so much Lisa! I hope you like my package as much as I like mine.

In conclusion - Go Get 'Em Tigers, my Sparty's suck (I really don't want to go freeze my butt off on Saturday while the Buckeyes kick our behinds) and what the heck is up with this? Until next time ....

Exchange Goodies

On Thursday my hubby came in with the mail and told me I had a package in the mail. I was excited because I knew it was my Great Bookmark Exchange package. I opened it giddily and here's what was inside.

The Great Bookmark Exchange questionnaire

I have joined the great bookmark exchange and these are my answers to the questionnaire.

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)
I love mysteries, chick lit, historical fiction and some horror.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc)
I am up for anything. I pretty easy to please.

3. What are your favorite colors?
I love purple, blues, greens and dark autumnal colors.

4. Are there any colors you don't like?
I'm not big on orange or yellow.

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be?
I would love anything fun or lacey. A theme bookmark to match the theme of the book would be cool.

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like??
Nothing comes to mind.

7. Can you send internationally?
Sure.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have??
I am a chocolate fiend. I'm not allergic to anything. I don't drink coffee but do drink tea occasionally.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc)
I will be knitting my bookmarks since that's the only crafty thing I really do. I would love to receive any type of bookmark - it will be nice to see what creative wonderful things people can come up with.

I am a moron sometimes

So I had a long entry written and I lost it. I can be really stupid sometimes - when the computer tells you if you click yes you will lose all unsaved work and you click yes you deserve to lose everything. Let's see if I can recreate it.

I remember that I was talking about how my fragile self-esteem may not do well with this blogging thing. If no one reads this I will feel like that rejected little girl all over again. Of course I should just do this for me but I am always looking for outside validation. I hate that but I am not sure how to go about not caring how people feel about me.

I remember that I was talking about my favorite Twilight Zone episode. It's called Masks. It's about the old millionaire who is dying and his family is counting the moments. They are greedy, vain and cruel. The old guy makes them wear these masks until midnight or they get nothing except a train ticket home. He finally dies at the stroke of midnight and the family rejoices. But when they go to remove the masks they realize that their faces have been changed to the ugly mask faces for all eternity. It really makes you think about how if you are ugly on the inside you are ugly on the outside even if you are beautiful.

We went to see The War of the Worlds yesterday. We actually saw about half of it on Saturday night until the bitch from hell ruined it. She was talking, loudly, during the entire movie! I asked her to be quiet and she called me a bitch and told me she would kick my ass. Well hubby got pissed off so we left. We got a refund, free passes and they got kicked out! So we tried again yesterday afternoon and all was good. We were even in the same theater! The movie was ok - a good summer action flick. I think Tom Cruise actually thinks this could happen since he's such a loony alien freak.

It's back to work tomorrow but at least my BB (that's bitchy boss) is on vacation this week. Maybe I can get my work done since she won't be bothering me every 2 minutes. I swear I would never think that someone who has worked her job for 20 years could know so little about how things work. Now that the fourth is over I will be counting down the 6 weeks until I go on vacation in the UP the week of August 15th. That's how I get through work - counting down to vacation days and holidays. I think I need a new job.

On the knitting front not much is happening. I frogged my shawl for the second time. I was going to start on my dishcloth for my exchange however, my yarn unrolled and I have been untangling it for 2 days. I will be casting on this afternoon for it finally! Time to make the bed and clean the bathroom - what fun!
