WIP on Wednesday: Cabled Slippers

During the winter I wear my hand knit socks 24/7. Because of this I am finding that I am wearing holes through my socks pretty quickly. I decided that I need to knit a pair of slippers so I can wear them around the house instead. I went to Ravelry and found the Summer Cabled Slipper pattern and decided to cast on.

I am knitting the medium size (I wear a size 8 US women’s shoe) and it seems to be a bit small on my left foot because of the swelling issues I have but it is fine on my right foot. I may try knitting the large size for my left foot and see if that makes a difference. I am using a size 7 (4.5 MM needle) and Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red. These are knit flat and seamed which does not bother me but your mileage may vary. Now it is time to cast on for #2.
Until next time ….

WIP on Wednesday: Gerri Hat

This WIP will soon be a FO since I am on the crown decreases for the hat. This is the Gerri Hat by Marly Bird. I am knitting this out of some Lion Brand Wool-Ease from my stash. This will be going to the Operation Chemo Comfort KAL with the Dramatic Knits podcast group.

I am really enjoying this pattern. It has enough spice to keep your attention but is fairly easy to memorize. My biggest complaint is the yarn. This ball is one huge tangle and I have had to cut the yarn twice because I could not untangle it.

Another project that will hopefully bring a smile to the face of someone going through a very rough time. Until next time ....

WIP on Wednesday: University Mitts

For quite awhile now I have wanted to learn colorwork. One of my dream projects pretty much since I began knitting is the Deep V Argyle Vest by Eunny Jang. Obviously that is a pretty ambitious project for a newbie so I decided to start smaller. A few years ago I came across the University pattern by Tin Can Knits and added it to my queue. This year for the Ravellenic games I decided to finally cast on (Ravelry). Two months later here is my progress.

Yes that is only the ribbing. Yes this is the first mitt. I have made mistakes on the colorwork pattern two times and had to rip back. I am determined to finish these and I will not be defeated! Knitting I am the boss of you not the other way around! Until next time ....

WIP on Wednesday: Root Beer City Rollers

Every year the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast hosts The point is to cast on a project for you whether you are a mother or just have one. This year I decided to cast on the Rose City Rollers pattern. The yarn color is Sassparilla so I have named these Root Beer City Rollers.

I am about a half inch from starting the toe decreases on the second sock. For some reason socks always seem to take me forever to knit. I find this very strange since I have pretty small feet. My original goal was to have these ready to wear this summer. Now it seems that they will be ready just in time for colder weather.

Wips, Wips Everywhere

My WIP situation is way out of control. I usually do not let the number of projects on the needles bother me but even I am feeling some pressure. Currently I am working on:

1) Blue Artichokes - these have been on the needles since April 2014. I am working on the gusset decreases of the second sock.

2) Doctor Who Blanket - I started this in April of this year and have completed 10 squares.

3) Bumpy Road 2.0 - this is my second version of my first shawl design. and was started in February.

4) Root Beer City Rollers - these were my mothers day cast on this year.

5) Little Angel Blanket - another design I am working on.

6) Birthday Morning Shawl -  I cast this on for my 40th birthday in June

7) Tigers Market Bag - another new cast on that was started in July.

8) University Mitts - the newest project that I cast on for the Ravellenics.

9) Nerd-ghan - my oldest WIP that was started in January 2013. The squares are all knit so I need to block, seam and add a border.

10) Preemie hats - I am on hat #23 of my 52 total goal.

11) Christmas ornaments - I am on #19 of my 24 total goal.

I think may the month of September will be a finish it up month for me! Until next time ....

WIPs on Wednesday

NaBloPoMo November 2015

Right now I have 3 active WIPs that I am working on.

I am knitting a Spider-man Sheldon. This will be a Christmas gift for Clark.

I am on my second Blue Artichoke sock. I just turned the heel and am ready to pick up the gusset stitches.

Finally I have my Bumpy Road Shawl design. I am getting to the end of my ball of yarn so I need to figure out how I want to finish the design.

Until next time ....
