Scares can be good sometimes

So I had a bit of a health scare earlier this week. I will spare everyone the gory details but I am fine and will continue to be fine. However, I was off work until Thursday and under doctor's orders to take it easy so I had a lot of time to think. This is where the good part comes in. I have always been a worrier. It is in my genes. My mother was somewhat of a worry wart but it was her father who took the cake. I am definitely a grandpa's girl and have continued his legacy of being paralyzed by fear. Now that I am almost 31 (I HATE saying that!) I have decided to let this fear and worrying go. It was a pretty easy revelation but putting it into action is different. However, I am proud of the way I have handled my biggest source of worry - my job. When I got to work on Thursday I realized that no one did anything while I was gone and my desk looked like a bomb blew up on it. However, I did not worry. I just sorted everything into piles and got as much done as I could. It took me until Friday afternoon but I got it done and did not stress myself out over it. When my boss went into her martyr act by telling me that she had to work late and come in early because I was not there I just let it roll off my back when I would normally get myself worked up over it. I am proud of myself and even though I know I will have some set backs it feels good to finally feel like I am in control of my life. I will no longer allow other people's thoughts, feelings and reactions to control me. Whew now onto the knitting!

So in the stressed out state I have been in for the last several months I have not done much knitting. I have been so exhausted when I get home that I only want to veg out in front of the TV. Well that is going to be no more. I will knit some every day and not allow my job to suck my enjoyment from my life. So I am knitting and reading a lot more in the last week because that is what I enjoy doing. Right now I am reading The Historian and loving it. I have also been knitting. I finished the March Mid Month KAL

The basket weave pattern is very cute. I love the theme of this cloth with the bunny from the March KAL. Get it - the bunny and the basket!? Too cute. I have to work on my projects that have been languishing in my bag for way to long. The two I am going to be concentrating on the next week or so are my Irish Hiking Scarf and the Fuzzy Foot. Of course it is warming up now so I will not have much use for a wool scarf and slippers but I want to finish them already!

Now I will leave you with my PS 2.0 picture for this post.

This cherry picture hangs next to our shower and I love it. It is a nice pick me to the winter doldrums. However, spring is on it's way and I am so happy. I have had the windows open all weekend when it wasn't raining and it is nice to get the fresh air in here finally. Until next time ....

GOOD for you! That's so good that you're not letting other things or things out of your control to stress you out. I hope you can continue this. Knitting should definitely help! Bravo!

It's hard not to let others get to you. Good for you to take control!

I am glad to hear that you have taken hold of your life and things are getting better for you. Life is way to short to let others get you down. Hope to see you at knitting club tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your health problems. Your work situation reminds me alot of my last job... I feel for you!

I wish you luck managing your anxiety. It's not easy, but you can do it!

btw- glad you are enjoying the Historian! DH & I really liked it too. And the author is a local! She is the neighbor of one of the gals in my knitting group! :)

My mom always likes to say..."Well you SHOULD worry". My response is why? Is it going to change the outcome? (she hates that) I used to be one to worry but gave it up after I realized that life is random regardless of circumstance, also the only way to know if you've made the right decision is after the fact! Isn't that comforting?

I know what you mean about a wooly scarf on the needles, I am racing to finish mine so I can maybe squeeze in a couple wearings before spring springs.

Almost 31?....puh...leeez.
