Wonderful Weekend

I just had one of the best weekends I can remember in quite a while. As of 5:45pm on Friday I was on vacation for the next week. Usually this is the week we would head up to the house in the UP but with baby and moving expenses we could not justify going up there, especially with gas at $4.20 or more a gallon. However, I knew we needed to get away, alone, for at least a weekend before the baby is born. So I decided that we should go to a bed and breakfast for the weekend. I did some searching and finally found a wonderful place in Holland. It was so relaxing and beautiful we did not want to leave. Would you want to leave this?

We left Saturday morning in a torrential downpour. We made it all the way to Royal Oak and stopped at the Redcoat Tavern for lunch. I will admit that I had never been to this landmark but the food made me realize what I was missing. I had the Cubano and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Once we got back on the road the rain stopped and the sun came out. We made it to Holland around 2:30pm and had some time to kill before we could check in. That is when hubby found thrift store heaven. We went to 3 different thrift stores and found quite a bit of baby stuff. A lot of books, a Winnie the Pooh wall hanging and one of those under the mattress monitors that sets off an alarm if the baby doesn't move for 30 seconds. Once we checked into the B&B we took a nap and then got ready to go to dinner. We went to Boatwerks where we had another delicious meal. It was so nice to spend some quality time with the hubby without the distractions we have at home.

Sunday we woke up and had a delicious full breakfast. If you have not had the B&B experience I highly recommend it! We hung out in the backyard by the woods for awhile before we reluctantly had to check out. We headed downtown and hung out at a little coffee shop until the few stores that open on Sunday opened. We walked around quite a bit and went in a very cute baby store called Tip Toes where I bought some cute animal shaped bath toys. Of course once I saw the yarn shop was open I went in and made a purchase.

Some Regia sock yarn from the Kaffe Fassett line. The store was very nice but the owner made one of my major pet peeves. I hate staff who are on you from the moment you walk in the door. Please say hello and ask me if I need anything and then let me be. DO NOT walk around while I am trying to browse and give me the hard sell. Thankfully some other people came in and saved me from the over solicitous owner. Then we went to lunch at the 8th Street Grille and sadly headed home. It was a wonderful and relaxing time and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Today was back to work for Jerry and I am sorting and purging some stuff to prepare for our move in 4 weeks!

On a baby note I am 31 weeks today and here is the bump:

I can not believe that people are still telling me I don't look pregnant! Are they crazy?? Until next time ....

That sounds like a lovely relaxing weekend. I need one of those. Although club was pretty relaxing Saturday, we missed you.

By the way, I love the Red Coat Tavern. Steve and I go there frequently. Their burgers are the best ever and the onion rings are to die for.
