The Slog in My Life

I love my niece. She is such a smart, beautiful and sweet young lady. However, I have at times wondered if she was worth the effort while slogging along on the knitting of her blanket. My original goal was to have it to her before she moved into the dorm but since she moved in last Thursday I obviously did not make that goal. Here is the blanket shortly after I cast off on Saturday afternoon.

It is doubled over on itself so you can see that it is huge. I have not yet measured it but I will before I give it to her. I am wishing I had made it wider but to late now.

Here is a close up of the pattern. It is the Hip to Be Square pattern which is free on Ravelry.

My new goal is to have it finished by Saturday when I see my niece at Clark's birthday party. I need to finish weaving in the ends (I am about 3/4 done) and knit the border. Somehow I do not see this happening but we will see. Wish me luck! Until next time ....

I like that red with tan. Not a color combo that I'd think of right out of the box but I really like it! I should use tan more instead of white in some things.
