Books Read: September 2016

In September my reading mojo managed to stick around. Again I think going back to old favorite series and authors was the right thing to do. In September I read the following 3 books.

1) Killer Gourmet: A Savannah Reid Mystery by G.A. McKevett – in this installment of the series Savannah is trying to solve the murder of the chef of her friend’s new restaurant. I have always enjoyed this series because the main character seems like a real woman. There were some events that took place in the book that showed her a bit wear but it was ok with me since it was an integral part of the story.

2) Murder in Merino: A Seaside Knitters Mystery by Sally Goldenbaum – another murder has taken place in the sleepy town of Sea Harbor, Massachusetts. I love the descriptions in these books. The way the writer talks about the scenery makes me feel  like I am there. Plus the was she describes the food always makes me hungry, even though I do not like seafood.

3) The Obituary Writer by Ann Hood – I was not sure at first what to think of this book but I really enjoyed it. It tells the story of 2 women – one in 1920s San Francisco and the other in Washington DC in the 1960s. Sometimes when books go back and forth between two time periods I can find it a bit disorienting but not this time. I really recommend this one.
