Books Read: April 2017

This was another good reading month for me. I finished the following 4 books in April.

1) The Pocket Wife by Susan Crawford - I really enjoyed this book. It was a very interesting psychological thriller. I liked the fact that you did not really like or believe any of the characters. I did figure out whodunit pretty early on but that is not uncommon for me.

2) Blood Magick: Book 3 of the Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy by Nora Roberts - I was pretty disappointed in this book. It felt like there was a huge buildup to nothing. I almost feel like she got bored writing it so she quit. The "epic" battle scene the entire trilogy lead up to lasted about 5 pages.

3) On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life by John O'Leary - this was by far the best book I have read in awhile. When he was 9 years old the author was burned in a fire over 100% of his body and not expected to live. Now he is a successful speaker, husband and father of 4. This book was inspirational while avoiding the over the top rah-rah cheesiness of most self help books.

4) This Life I Live: One Man's Extraordinary, Ordinary Life and the Woman Who Changed it Forever by Rory Feek - while I did not closely follow the story of Rory and Joey on Facebook I was fairly aware of their story. I think anyone could enjoy this book and the powerful story it tells even if they are not aware of the couple's history. Be aware though this is quite the tearjerker.
