This month has been pretty rough around here. I have been very stressed but I have managed to get some knitting done.
First up the Cable and Braid Variation Cloth.
While I was gone at Knit-Away I started working on dishcloth sets as end of the year gifts for Clark's teachers.

Next up an update on some WIPs. Until next time ....

More Finished Objects
First off Happy Leap Day! I always thought this day was almost magical as a kid. Now I just think it is hard to remember to write 2/29 all day at work.
I have managed to complete two more projects. First up is the Twisted Rib Cable Variation Cloth. I am almost done going through my scraps of dishcloth cotton which makes me very happy.

I also finally completed my Socktoberfest socks. These are called Grape Ape and the yarn is Louet Gems.

I realized at the toe decreases that I was going to run out of yarn so I had to frog back to the cuff and remove one pattern repeat. This was all the yarn that was left - 2 grams out of the 100 gram skein.

Talk about cutting it close. Until next time ....

More Dishcloths Done
Before things hit the fan two weeks ago I did manage to complete 4 more dishcloths. I am working on using up these partial skeins of cotton and they are almost gone. So with out further ado here are:
Oblique Cable Variation Cloth

Cross Stitch Cable Variation Cloth

Mock Gull Variation Cloth

Traveling Cable Variation Cloth

I have made an executive decision to discontinue my FO Blog. I have kept it for sentimental reasons but with Ravelry it is pretty redundant. I will obviously keep it up with the old posts but no new ones will be entered there. Onward and upward as the saying goes. Until next time ....

A Productive Start to the New Year
The first week of 2012 was very productive for me. I managed to complete 4 projects in the first 7 days. While I know that I will never be able to keep up the pace I have enjoyed getting things off the needles.
First up is my Perseverance Shawl (Ravelry and FO Blog). I loved this pattern. It is easy enough to be good TV knitting but interesting enough to keep your attention and not become boring. I did have an issue where I was going to run out of yarn so I had to rip back about 25 rows and shorten the last repeat. The yarn - Lion Brand Microspun - is some of the first yarn I bough when I started knitting in April 2005. It is nice to finally have it out of my stash.

Next up is what I called the Clark-A-Roni hat (Ravelry and FO Blog). It is being modeled by Al the Octopus because its intended recipient was being extremely uncooperative. I loved the pattern but it ended up to small length wise. I have some more yarn and will make Clark another one and this hat will go in the charity pile.

Next is the first of 2 dishcloths. This is my Slipped Stitch Braid Variation cloth (Ravelry and FO Blog). This is cloth 30 of the Cable Dishcloth Project.

Finally this is my Sipped Braid Cable Variation cloth (Ravelry and FO Blog). I think this is my favorite pattern in the entire book. I do have a few more of the pattern variations to make but the Cable Dishcloth Project has almost come to an end. I have really enjoyed this challenge and already have the next one in the queue.

Now I am working on a baby sweater for one of the managers at work. Her shower is on the 26th so I need to get going on that. I have also made some stash enhancement last weekend but that will have to wait until next time ....

Some More Finished Knitting
I have been knitting away and managed to complete a few more projects.
Staggered Cable Cloth (Ravelry and FO Blog). I love this pattern - it is one of my favorites.

Cable Grid Cloth (Ravelry and FO Blog).

Interlocking Cables Cloth (Ravelry and FO Blog). This one is very complex but I loved knitting it.

Basket Rib Hand Towel (Ravelry and FO Blog). This is part of the Christmas gift for my brother and SIL.

I still have a lot of knitting to do before the end of the year so I better get going. Until next time ....

Some More Things Completed
I have been finishing up some projects which is nice. I have come across some extra knitting time in the AM. I have been getting up and working out every morning. However, I have to sit for 15-20 minutes to cool off before I get in the shower or I start sweating again as soon as I get out. So I have been using that time to knit.
Lattice and Bobbles Cloth. I actually really dislike this one. I do not like how the yarn knit up and I am so not a bobble person. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Darkside Cowl. This will be my only project for the final month of Project Spectrum. I loved the pattern and am very happy with the result. I am less happy with the huge tangle of yarn that I ended up having to unravel but oh well. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Diamonds and Bobble Cloth. Again I am not a bobble person but I do love the cable that surrounds the bobbles. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Now I need to get cracking on some WIPs. Especially my Alix Lace Shawl and the Fake-A-Gamo Bag. They have been on the needles for way to long. Until next time ....

October is off to a great start as well but that will have to wait for another day. Until next time ....

We Have Completions
I have actually finished up a couple of projects. First up are my Simple Socks

These have been on the needles since February so I am VERY happy to be finished with them. They are very comfortable and this maybe my go to vanilla pattern. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Second is another cloth from the Cable Dishcloth Project. This is called the Plaited Cable and it was a nice and easy pattern to memorize. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.
Next up a baby sweater for my cousin's newborn baby girl. Until next time ....

August Wrap Up and September Start
Due to the time spent knitting on the slog I did not have much production on pink projects for Project Spectrum in August. In fact I completed only 1 thing - a dishcloth that actually was not finished until September. This is the Twisted Rib Cable Cloth. Details as always are at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

However, September is off to a great start. I have finished my first yellow project for the month.

This is the Cable and Braid Cloth. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog. I must say that I am really enjoying knitting these cable patterns as dishcloths. I will be a little sad once I am finished. I guess it is a good thing that I still have a lot of patterns to go! Until next time ....

July Project Spectrum Wrap Up
It is the end of another month so it is time for another Project Spectrum wrap up. July was not a very productive month FO wise but I do have a deadline blanket knit that I have been concentrating on.
Starting out the month I finished up a June Project. This is the Smocked Cable Cloth. Details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Next up is the Slipped Circular Cable Dishcloth. Not so big on the bobbles on this one. See details at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

The second and last blue FO is the Elongated Cable Dishcloth. Details are located at Ravelry and the FO Blog.

Finally it is not an FO but I have been working on my Simple Socks. I am finishing up the gusset decreases and then it will be down the foot and hopefully a quick FO. I do have a couple of projects in mind for the Pink/Purple theme for August but first I have a blanket to finish! Until next time ....

I also did a little jewelry making this weekend. I made this bracelet from some beads that have been in my stash forever. However I am not sure if I am happy with it.

Next up a progress report on my shawl. Or make that a lack of progress report. Until next time ....

Cable Dishcloth Project
Recently I purchased The Very Easy Guide to Cable Knitting with my Christmas gift card. While going through the book I had another one of my brilliant ideas as Blair Warner would say. Why not make dishcloths out of the cable patterns in the book? Plus, I can knit them out of the colors for Project Spectrum and kill two birds with one stone. So with that the Cable Dishcloth Project was born.
This is the first cloth - the Slip Stitch Cable. This was made from Sugar 'n Cream in Country Red. More details are located on Ravelry and my FO Blog.

I am almost done with cloth #2 and I am really enjoying this little project. Until next time ....
