Comments: This is probably one of my favorite things I have ever made. He is just so frickin cute! I wanted to keep him for myself but I did the adult thing and gave him away.

FO: Easter Chirp

Yes it is November and I am posting a finished object from April. I guess I am slightly behind but I only have a few more to go.

WIPs on Wednesday

Right now I have 3 active WIPs that I am working on.

I am knitting a Spider-man Sheldon. This will be a Christmas gift for Clark.
 

I am on my second Blue Artichoke sock. I just turned the heel and am ready to pick up the gusset stitches.

Finally I have my Bumpy Road Shawl design. I am getting to the end of my ball of yarn so I need to figure out how I want to finish the design.

FO: Buddha Sweater

Once I finished his sweater Clark decided he needed a matching one for his dog, Buddha.

Pattern: Webkinz Sweater Pattern
Needles: Size 8 bamboo
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Ranch Red
Modifications: made about an inch longer to cover his body more
Comments: very easy pattern. Boy and dog are both pleased

FO: Bunny Nuggets

I am little behind so I am just now posting the toys I made for Clark's Easter basket. I made him two Bunny Nuggets by Rebecca Danger.

The green is Sheep Dreamery Choptank in Emerald City and the blue is Lion Brand Microspun in turquoise. Like all toys the knitting is easy and I procrastinated the finishing. I finished them around midnight the day before Easter. Until next time ....

FOs: Scarf for Polar Bear and Flags

After finishing Clark's scarf he told me that his polar bear was cold a needed a scarf as well. Well we cannot have a cold polar bear in this house so I made him a simple 2x2 rib scarf to keep him warm.

Next up are the flags Clark requested.

He wanted them in his favorite colors of red, blue, yellow and green. These were a great use for some scraps in my stash. He was very excited when I gave them to him on Valentine's Day but they have been sitting on the table since. Oh well that is how it goes with 5 year olds. Until next time ....

FOs:Christmas Toys

To finally get through these Christmas gifts I am posting two gifts in one. First up is the Christmas Chirp.

This started as a gift for a girl in Clark's class. We ended up not going to her party because of a snow storm so it became Clark's. I have made several of this pattern and it is very easy.

Next up Clark has been obsessed with dogs lately. We have checked out three dog puppets from the library in the last few months. So I decided to make him his own dog.

This is the Happy Dog pattern from the Anigurumi Animal Friends book. Like all knit toys the kitting is easy but the finishing very fiddly.  Only one gift left to write about! Until next time ....

FO: Hippy Hippo

First of all I hope you all have had a wonderful 11/12/13. Apparently today was a very popular day for weddings.

I am sure no one wants to be reminded but Christmas is not very far away. Thanks to our car breaking down while we were on our way up north this summer the gift fund is seriously depleted. So what is a knitter to do? Knit stuff of course.

Clark has a hippo bath toy that he loves. In fact he sleeps with it most nights. Unfortunately it is one of those toys that shoots water so it leaks no matter how hard you try to get all the water out of it. I remembered that I had a hippo pattern in my queue so the Hippy Hippo was born.

The pattern is Mini Hippo by Aine Marriott and I knit it out of Lion Brand Pound of Love in Bubble Gum. The pattern was very quick and easy. I knit it in about 2 days and then got lazy about stuffing and sewing it together which is why it took 3 weeks to finish. It is very cute and I know that Clark will love it when he opens it on Christmas morning. Until next time ....

FOs: Clark's Birthday Toys

Clark is always happy to receive some of mommy's knitting. That means that I had to make him something for his birthday. Now he is the proud owner of two new toys.

This is Steggy the Stegosaurus. He was made out of Sugar 'n Cream in Mod Ombre and Mod Green. It was a very easy pattern but like most toys it was very fiddly to put together.

This cute little guy is called Thingamabob. Clark actually saw this one when I was on Ravelry looking at patterns and said it was "so cute". It is also so small that it took me less than an hour to knit.

FO: Geet the Garage Monster

This past Saturday Clark had a birthday party for his buddy Jordan. I am never sure what to buy people when there is no list and I just did not feel like going into the toy section and browsing. So what is a knitter to do? Knit a monster of course!

This is Geet the Garage Monster from Rebecca Danger's The Big Book of Knitted Monsters. He was made from Caron Simply Soft in Bone for his body and limbs and black for his ears. He was very easy to make and I was tempted to keep him. My only complaint is that the safety eyes I used were to small. They were the only ones I had and since I did not finish putting him together until about an hour before the party I had to use them. Jordan loved him and hugged on him when he opened the package but I did not get a picture and I do not post pictures of other people's children online anyway. Until next time ....

FO: Easter Tony

Well it has only taken me a month but I am finally showing you the monster I knit for Clark's Easter basket. This is Tony the Toy-Box Monster from Rebecca Danger's Big Book of Knitted Monsters.

The pattern was an easy one to knit but like all toys and monsters it is a bit fiddly. However, Clark loved him so it was all worth it.

FO: Squiggy

One Christmas tradition I remember fondly from my childhood is the stuffed animal we would receive in our stockings each year. This tradition continued well into our adulthoods. In fact my mom kept it up until she passed away. This is something I decided to continue with Clark. However, as a knitter I can not just buy an animal I need to make one. So two days before Christmas I cast on for Squiggy and finished him up around 11:30pm on Christmas Eve so he is my final FO of 2012.

The pattern is Squiggy the Squiggle Monster and it was very easy to follow and quick to knit. The yarn is Vanna's Choice in Brick and Patons Classic Wool in Dark Gray Mix. I love him and Clark seems to agree.

FO: Judy the Precious Pig

The first KAL project is now complete. I am happy to present Judy the Precious Pig.

I named her in honor of my mom who loved and collected pigs. I knit this for the Pink-tober KAL with the Knit Nerd Podcast. Kathy decided to host this KAL to honor her sister who passed away from breast cancer. While my mom had intestinal not breast cancer I felt this project was still appropriate for the KAL since all cancer sucks. The book - Amigurumi Animal Friends - not only has patterns for the animals but for clothes as well. So I decided to knit a scarf and skirt for her to wear as well. While I originally knitted her for me Clark has since laid claim to her. At least this a little piece of his grandma he can have. Until next time ....

KAL Madness

Something has come over me and I have joined way to many KALs. At this time I have5 projects on the needles. Of these projects 4 are for various KALs. So without further ado here is what I am working on.

First up are the Fallberry Mitts by Anne Hanson. The yarn is Debbie Bliss Donegal Tweed that I received as a destash prize from Jane. These are for the October Fingerless Mitts KAL with the Student Knits podcast.

Second are what I am calling my Crocus socks. The pattern is the Afterthought Heel Socks by Laura Linneman and the yarn is Loops and Threads Luxury Sock in Crocus. I am a bit nervous about the afterthought heel but it is a technique I have wanted to try for awhile. This is for the Knitabulls September/October Self Stripping Socks KAL.

 

Third is what I am calling Judy the Precious Pig. My mom's name was Judy and she loved and collected pigs.  Right now I have a head, two ears, a snout and I finished the body last night after this picture was taken. This is for the Pink-tober KAL with the Knit Nerd Podcast.

Finally is my Celtic Cable Neckwarmer for the Fall Accessories KAL for the Retro Lemon Studio Podcast. I am having a hard time with the cable chart on this pattern but I am determined to power through and finish.

So I have been rotating and working on a different project every day. I hope I will be able to finish them in time but it is going to be quite the challenge. Until next time ....

FO Friday

I have two more FOs that have been completed in the last couple of weeks. First up is an owl puff. Clark has claimed this one as well. He is made out of Paton's Classic Wool in Dark Gray Mix.

Next up is another baby sweater. I made this for another co-worker who is pregnant. I ran out of yarn with 3 rounds left on the second sleeve. I did not want to go out and buy another ball of Pound of Love so I ripped out to rows of the garter section at the bottom and as able to finish the sleeve with maybe 3 inches of yarn left over.

Right now I only have one active project on the needles. I think I need to remedy that this weekend! Until next time ....

FOs: Premie Hat and Bot Byte

After finishing my cabled vest I needed some quick and easy projects. I have managed to complete two small projects. First up is a preemie hat for the Mama's Boys group on Ravelry. The yarn is Red Heart Soft Baby in Naptime and the pattern was supplied by the hospital. The hat is being modeled by Al the Octopus - the Detroit Red Wings Mascot.

My second FO is a Bot Byte. I finished this last week on vacation and Clark immediately asked if he could have it. Of course I told him yes. I also entered this in the July/August KAL for the designer's - Retro Lemon - podcast.

Now I am moving on to two bigger projects. And I need to pull out my shawls and work on those. So much to knit so little time. Until next time ....
