Just don't call me Bode

So I didn't finish my Clapotis. On Friday I realized there was no way in hell I would finish so I set a goal for myself of finish the straight row repeats which I accomplished while at Amby's wonderful party on Sunday. I was very disappointed that I didn't finish and had all those horrible thoughts go through my head until hubby reminded me how far I have come. I have not been knitting even a year yet so I won't be to hard on myself. That's what I keep him around for - plus he cleans!

I have no pictures because I am to lazy to take any. This has been a hard week already. I am getting sick again, the drywallers broke our antique mirror, I made a huge mistake on closing Friday that made it seem that we lost over a million - yes a MILLION - dollars on an order, I had to work on Saturday (planned before my fuck-up was discovered) and I taped the wrong channel tonight and recorded Deal or No Deal instead of American Idol. I am hoping things can only go up from here. At least tomorrow I will have fun with the girls at the 'Bou but I will be cleaning on Thursday and Friday - my BIL is coming to stay with us for a week. I love him to death but hate the privacy invasion. I promise my next entry won't be so whiny - well maybe! Until next time ....

Clapotis I Will Beat You Yet!

So here is where I am on my Clapotis.

This has been very challenging to me. I had to start over more times than I care to count. I think I am at the point where I just want to finish and do not really care if it's perfect or not. I am not sure if I will finish on time but I will try. I will be knitting tonight between flipping through the Olympics and American Idol and then tomorrow is our knitup. I should be able to get a lot done there if I can keep my yap shut. On Thursday Jerry and I are driving to East Lansing to see The Lion King so I will let Jerry drive there so I can knit and I will take my stuff in to work on before the show starts and during intermission. I am halfway through the 4th repeat of the straight section so I will have 8 more repeats of that, the 8 decrease section repeats and the final 11 rows. Hopefully I can finish knitting and get it blocking on Sunday - I can't help it if it doesn't dry fast enough for the torch going out can I??? Until next time ....

Short Update

First I would like to thank Amby and Dana for their kind comments on my last entry. I definitely felt good to get my feelings about my mom out in the open.

This is my process on my Clapotis. It was a rough start. I actually made that progress yesterday and today so I am pretty proud of myself. There is a hole and the edges are wonky but hopefully blocking will help the edges and I can fix the hole. This yarn (Rowan Felted Tweed) breaks very easily which is hard on a tight knitter like myself. I am liking the pattern and will like to make another one in a better yarn someday. Until next time ....

Citius, Alitius, Fortius

So the Knitting Olympics are underway. I have not yet cast on for my project - I decided to wait until I was watching the opening ceremonies. I did want to come here and jot down some of my thoughts about the actual Olympics.

My mom and I always watched the Olympics together. Actually we, along with my sister, had talked about going to Salt Lake for the 2002 winter games. Unfortunately we never made it. My mom died in the middle of the 2002 games so this Olympics will be a bittersweet experience. She and I always enjoyed both the summer and winter games but the winter games were always our favorite. I am my mother's daughter - I am such a sap. I have my box of tissue next to me because I know I will be crying before the ceremonies are over. My favorite part is the parade of nations. It always amazes me how people from different countries, continents, religions, cultures and beliefs can come together to compete for the love of their sports. It gives me chills when I think about it. In the days of over paid professional athletes it is amazing to see people - especially those from small countries - who compete just because they love what they do.

Ok - enough with the sappy stuff and back to the knitting. Amby, who is a doll, made our group of Olympians bags to keep our projects in. Here's mine:

Here is the yarn I am using to make my Clapotis - Rowan Felted Tweed in color 142-Melody. Sorry but every picture I took turned out fuzzy.

Well that is all. I'm not sure how much updating I will do in the next 16 days but I will try to get some progress pics up during the process. Until next time ....

A little of this - a little of that

Just a quick update on a few things. I joined Team Clapotis and I can not wait to get started on Friday. I will not be able to start until after work so I definitely will be knitting while watching the opening ceremonies.

I have updated my Finished Objects blog. I am almost caught up on the FOs. I only have the last two dishcloths I made for the KAL group and I will be done.

That's it - hope to update more in depth later. Until next time ...

I Never Get This Lucky!

I am amazed at my luck today. Usually lucky things don't happen to me but today that changed. When my hubby picked up the mail today I had a check from the state of Michigan. Apparently, I made a mistake when I filed my taxes last year and I not only didn't have to pay like I did but I had a $70 refund coming to me. So I now have $127 I was not expecting and it is already burning a hole in my pocket! I do want to go to the NFL experience and we will probably do that on Sunday and I will take my hubby out to dinner one night next week. Maybe I will buy something off my Amazon wishlist with what's left over - who knows.

Why is it that a short work week always seems to go by so much slower than a full week? I was off on Monday and I feel like today should be Friday. I was even gone today for an hour and a half - of course I was at the gyno - and today just dragged on. At least I get to go out for drinks tomorrow after work! I don't even drink that much but I will be having a rum and coke to enter into my weekend. Saturday I will get the apartment to myself since Jerry will be out visiting his girls. That will give me a lot of quality knitting time. I started my Irish walking scarf last night at our Wednesday knit up. I even managed to remember even and odd numbers after a while. I screwed up the scarf because I was knitting backwards - doing the odd row pattern on an even row and vice versa. That's what I get for trying to read a pattern, knit, do math and talk at the same time. I should really know better - the math alone is enough to screw me up.

Until next time ...
