So hubby and I are going to buy a house. Our lease is up at the end of September and there is no way in heck we are staying here after all the problems we had with our roof leaking. However, I have a little real estate rant to contend with. Are there really people out there who are crazy enough to buy a $100,000 condo that is basically a glorified apartment? I don't get that. They will not appreciate in value and you will have a hard time selling but practically every "condo" I seen online is a converted apartment. I really want a condo since we don't have to do yard work, shovel snow or pay for water, Also, since we don't have money to put down it will be relatively inexpensive. But I refuse to pay that much for an apartment for the opportunity of owning my own place.
On the knitting front I am plugging along on my baby blanket. It is coming out very well. I will have to make one for me when the time comes a LONG tine from now. Until next time ....

New purchases
So my hubby and I have actually spent some money (that's more surprising for me actually)and made some new purchases.
Today I had to go buy my contact cleaner and some other toiletries so I decided to treat my self to a couple of things:

I bought some Ghirardelli Squares with Carmelized Almonds (my favorite "grown up" candy), the Scarf Style book, Garth Brooks Lost Sessions CD (Garth is my all-time favorite artist), the spring issue of Interweave Knits, and finally the Yarn Harlot's second book. A pretty good haul for someone who usually doesn't spend money on herself.
Yesterday hubby came home all excited about a new tv stand he found at the Salvation Army store (yes Amby the one at Auburn and John R). He didn't think I could lift our heavy ass tv but I proved him wrong. Here is a picture of the new set up - of course with NCAA basketball on the tv.

I like it. The shelf with our components next to the tv is black and the old stand was also black so this lightens up the room a bit. Don't let that tv fool you it is very heavy - I could barely lift my side up to move it the 6 inches from the old stand to the new one.
I have been working on the blanket but it does not really look any different. I am not putting a picture up - just imagine it a little longer and wider from the last time. I really want to get it done so I can start to learn how to knit socks. I think the bug has rubbed off on me finally. Until next time ....

Now for some knitting content
I have actually been knitting some the past week. I have 2 projects going on right now - a baby blanket for my cousin and the never ending Clapotis.

This is the beginnings of the Diagonal Baby Blanket for my cousin Danielle and her partner Cristi. I am making it on size 8 needles out of Caron Simply Soft yarn in Soft Green. This pattern is very easy and is my mindless knitting project since it is all knit stitch with one yarn over every row. This needs to be done by her baby shower on April 15th so I need to get going and not procrastinate like I normally do.

This is my Clapotis project. I am trying to work on it but I am somewhat burned out on it. I am also very worried because of this

I am not sure I am going to have enough yarn to finish. This is going to be interesting. I hope to get some good knitting time in this week. I have Friday off so I will be knitting on my couch while watching basketball. Also, Jerry will probably be gone on Saturday morning until early Sunday afternoon visiting his girls in Muskegon so I will not be interrupted as much. Until next time ....

I am still alive
I have not been in the mood to update lately. In fact, I have not been in the mood for knitting much. I think my post-Olympic whiplash was the desire not to knit. I am getting back on track though. I have cast on for my cousin's baby blanket and I am almost done with the March dishcloth KAL. I have also done 2 repeats on the decrease section of Clapotis so that maybe done sometime this year at that rate.
I saw Brokeback Mountain on Saturday during our Girl's Night Out. It was a wonderful movie - though it was somewhat slow in places. It was such a sad and tragic story and it really got me thinking. My aunt and uncle were married in May 1972 - he was black and she was white. At that time it was only legal in 13 states for them to be married. Just 4 years before I was born my husband and I would only be able to be married in 13 states - that just boggles my mind. I can't even imagine what it's like now for gay and lesbian couples to not be able to be married legally. I think most people in America need to get their heads out of their asses and get with the times - love is love whether it's a white woman and a black man or two men or two women. Ok I am off my soapbox.
Only 7 more work days until I have a vacation day. I plan on sitting on the couch, knitting and watching basketball from noon until midnight. Until next time ....
