I am totally exhausted. I was up at 4 am today. The reason why I got up so early is also the reason why I am so lonely. My hubby left at 8am for Boston to visit his brother so I had to take him to the airport. I know this is cheesy but I missed him the second I dropped him off and pulled away. He is so sweet. Yesterday he knew I was down because of his leaving, my job and the lack of any prospects in the employment department. My car was at his work over the weekend (long story) so he bought a smiley faced balloon and tied it to the driver side mirror of my car. I was going to take a picture of it but for some reason my camera is refusing to turn on. I have changed the batteries so I am not sure what's up with it. It may have to wait until Sunday when Jerry gets home.
Ok enough with the sappy and on to the knitting. I could not fix my scarf so it got frogged. Sometimes I wish I could quell my perfectionism but I figure if I going to spend all this time and effort on something I want it to look good. There's no point in making something that I won't wear because of a mistake I was to lazy to fix. I am also plugging along on the mid-month KAL for the dishcloth group. I also have Jerry's hat in my bag so I will hopefully start that again soon. Now I am off to finish watching Dancing with the Stars and then I am going to bed. Until next time ...

I maybe crazy but I did it anyway
So I think I am slightly crazy. While I loved the concept and execution of the Knitting Olympics I did get slightly burned out. You could see that by the fact that I didn't finish my project until May. However, I decided to sign up for the Olympics because it was a way to push myself out of my comfort zone and finally knit my Clapotis. I have decided once again to become a joiner to get myself out of my comfort zone. I have been wanting to learn how to knit socks for awhile and Socktoberfest seemed to be the perfect opportunity to push myself into finally doing it. I signed up today and now I need to get myself prepared. I hope I don't get frustrated and burn out like I did before. I need to remind myself that it is only knitting and not to get so caught up in it all. Lolly is such a creative person for coming up with this concept. She is also the brains behind Project Spectrum - which I missed the first version of but I can't wait to join the second version in January. Go read her blog now - she is so talented.
On the knitting front I have finished my bookmark for the exchange so I need to block and starch the thing. I need to plan the rest of the package for my pal but I have some ideas floating around in my head. I am still working on my scarf (which I screwed up somewhere and need to figure out how to fix)> Also, I dug hubby's hat out of the stash and I am ready to attempt DPNs again. The next KAL for the dishcloth group begins on Saturday so I will begin that while I'm watching the MSU football game. I can not wait to get tomorrow over with. I only need to clean the kitchen and bathroom and do a load of laundry this weekend so I will hopefully get some quality knitting time in. Happy knitting - until next time ....

No progress here
So I have not knitted a stitch since Thursday. Heck, I think it might have even been Wednesday. Actually I have not done much of anything. Yesterday was our second MSU football game so that took up most of my day. I left at noon and didn't get home until 9pm. By then I was way to tired to knit. It was nice though - my sister and I were able to take our niece Rachel, who is 7, to her first game. Even though it rained she seemed to enjoy herself. She was actually very well behaved which surprised me. She gets bored very easily and is VERY active. Hopefully this bodes well for our trip to NYC next year. We took our oldest niece when she was 8 and next year we will take her sister. Hopefully we won't have a disaster happen a mere 2 weeks and 6 days later like we did last time. Now I am off to knit a bit and maybe even read a bit. Until next time ....

Title? I don't need no stinkin' title!
So this has been the longest 4 day week I can remember. It sucks hating your job - all I can think of is going home, watching tv and knitting. Oh well, it is the weekend now and I am so happy!
So Wednesday Kirsti brought presents to our weekly knit night. She brought free yarn - you have to love a friend like that! I picked out these beauties.
This is Knit Picks sock yarn Dancing. I guess this means that I need to learn how to make socks now. I had the Knit Socks book from the library but had to return it (damn people putting holds on my stuff). Maybe I should just suck it up and buy it. Oh well I need to get my butt moving already!
I also have a FO - another dishcloth for the KAL group.
You can't see the pattern very well but it is a oak leaf pattern. Very cute and easy - details here.
I finally got a subscription to Interweave Knits and my fall issue finally came today. I love pretty much everything in there. The Western Point Skirt is something that I will never make until my butt is at least 6 sizes smaller. My three definite "to knits" are the Gatsby Girl Pullover, Swallowtail Shawl and the Spartan Pullover for my hubby. He liked it despite the name - yes this Spartan married a Wolverine. On my "I love but I'm not sure about" list is the Saffron Cables. I love it but it is huge. I would love it for a handbag - maybe I will attempt to convert the pattern. That should be interesting. Until next time ....

Here I go again
I feel bad for neglecting this blog since I started my new baby. The main reason I have not posted here is that I have not had much knitting progress. I am still working on my bookmark for my exchange partner (which I can't show here because she reads my blog) and my Irish Hiking Scarf. I have also started the September KAL and I actually managed to finish something!
The Knit for the Cure washcloth. It was a pain but I finally finished it. There are several mistakes but I wanted to just finish it already and did not care. I will be using it to wash my face so a few mistakes don't matter to me! Details here as always.
I had a pretty weird experience yesterday and it freaked me out all day. Jerry left around 9:30am to go see his daughters. I was in the living room watching TV about a half hour later when I heard a very faint knock on the door. I looked out the peephole and there was a large, older, balding man in a paisley print shirt and khaki shorts. He was standing pretty far away from the door. I asked him if I could help him and he said, very quietly so I couldn't hear everything, that he needed to pick up some papers for Kyle or Cody somebody for some insurance company. I told him he had the wrong apartment and that I was not opening the door. He left but he must have gone out the back door on the other side of the building because I was watching out my window and never saw him leave. It is possible that it was on the up and up but all I know is as soon as I saw him out there my gut instinct was to not open the door. It was a Sunday morning and a holiday weekend - who does business then? Plus he was not dressed professionally at all. He looked like he was going to go golfing. Rapists and murderers often prey on the fact that women want to help and can be guilted into doing what they know they should not. I would rather be alive and considered a bitch than be nice and end up dead. Just remember to be careful out there ladies.
I was saddened today to wake up to the news that Steve Irwin was dead. He did so much to bring awareness of animal rights and environmentalism to the world. Even though I often thought he was a crazy SOB I also loved the passion he had for his work. We should all be so lucky to be able to earn a living doing something we love so much. I feel very bad for his wife and his children. I hope he's up in heaven giving a demonstration and wrestling with a crocodile as I type this.
Finally, I would like to make a personal plea for help. On Sunday October 8th I will be participating in the Michigan Humane Society's Mega March for Animals. The Humane Society is a wonderful organization that I support with my entire being. You can help by sponsoring me here. You can donate online or send me a check. There may even be some yarny goodness for one (or more) of my sponsors. My goal is $200 but more would always be welcome. Now I have to start walking so I can get into shape for the 2 mile walk. Oh jeez what did I get myself into? Until next time ....
