Nice Weekend

So I have had a nice and relaxing weekend. This is especially nice since last weekend was such a blur - I feel that I didn't get a chance to breathe let alone relax.

Yesterday I got up early and actually cleaned! I changed the sheets, cleaned that kitchen and bathroom and was done by 12:15. I bribed myself into finishing this by telling myself that if I got this done I could relax and do nothing the rest of the weekend. That is exactly what I have done - and it is nice to not feel guilty about being lazy. I have read, knitted and watched taped tv shows. I don't think I have ever let onto my secret so here it goes. This all started about 7 or 8 years ago. I was working full time and going to school at night. I would tape all my tv shows (an embarrassing amount actually) since I was not home to watch them. However, it took a long time to catch up - I'm still working on it actually. I am watching shows now that I taped in November of 2004. Bad I know but I hope to get caught up someday. And now you all know my dirty little secret.

I finished the February Mid-Month KAL on Thursday night while watching Supernatural (on of the few shows I actually watch and not tape). The details are already posted over here. Now I am working on the April Mid-Month KAL. Then I will have the March KAL and my Clapotis to finish. I also want to finish the Easy Ripple Shawl from Lion Brand. This was the second project I attempted last year when I learned to knit but got frustrated with it and put it away. I would like to finish it by the end of June to wear with my favorite dress when hubby and I go out for my birthday. We are either going to Chicago or Toronto and I plan to drink my sorrows about turning 30 away. Now I am off to knit and root on the Wings. Until next time ....

Mission Accomplished

So the baby blanket was done in time. I finished it Friday morning while watching the episode of Lost I DVR'd on Wednesday night. I was happy with the results but I would make it slightly larger next time here is the pic. Details are located here.

My cousin and her partner loved it. However, since I am a nit-wit I forgot my camera and did not get a picture of them with it. My sister took one with her disposable so once I get it from her I will scan and post it.

Our Easter was good. We stayed at my dad's house Saturday night. Sunday morning we went to the pancake breakfast and church. We ate dinner there and then went to have desert with Jerry's family. It was actually nice to be able to make everyone happy and spend time with them.

Now that the blanket is done I gave some new knitting goals. I want to finish Clapotis and the Monthly Dischcloths I have not done yet. After that, I am onto socks! I am so excited to join the dark side. Until next time ....

Uhhh ..... yeah

So I can not come up with a title so that's all you're getting. I am still plugging along on that blanket. I am really pushing because it needs to be done by Saturday. Here is the progress thus far.

Not so bad after all. I work on it in traffic, at lunch, watching tv, wherever I can.

My to-do wish list is getting longer. Here's just a sampling:

1) Learn to knit socks
2) Unravel two sweaters I have
3) Buy more sweaters to unravel
4) Attempt dying yarn
5) Work on a lace project - most likely Branching Out
6) Make a sweater for Jerry or I
7) Catch up on past Monthly Dishcloth KALs

There's more but I can not think of them right now. I think that is enough for now. I am not sure when I will have time to do all this - unless I quit my job. At least we get Good Friday off so I have a three day weekend to work on some things.

I have updated my finished objects blog - it was long overdue. Until next time ....

One year ago today

One year ago today I walked into Joann's in Rochester Hills and took my first knitting class. It was only the teacher and I so I got a lot of personal attention. I had been attempting to knit for a few months and just didn't think I was getting. Little did I know that if I would knit more than 3 or 4 stiches before ripping it out I would of had it on my own. Taking that class is one of the best things I have done. I still have the certificate I got from the class.

I don't know what made me want to knit. I have never been big on arts and crafts. I think getting married changed all that. Mostly I was inspired by Amy and Sherry. I wanted to make all the nice things they did. I am glad that these two wonderful women inspired me. Knitting has become my salvation. When I am stressed or upset I knit and it relaxes me. I love the feeling of making something with my own two hands. However, the best part of this knitting adventure is the wonderful friends I have made. I look forward to spending my Wednesday nights with them every week. I can not wait to see what the next year of being a knitter holds for me. Until next time ....

Flashers Unite

Well that should bring some interesting Google searches to my site. I am ready to flash my stash so here I go.

This is the basket that holds my stash. It was my grandmother's so it holds a special place for me.

This is one side of the basket open

Here is the other side of the basket open.

This is my pile of acrylic. The top row is one skein of Red Heart Super Saver in Royal and one skein of Bernat Softee Chunky in #39245. The bottom row contains two skeins of Moonlight Mohair in coral reef, one skein of Bernat Disco in Mr Brown, 5 skeins of Microspun in turquoise and one skein of Caron Simply Soft in soft green.

This is my pile of wool yarn. On top there is two skeins of Rebus Model in # 934, two skeins of Wool Ease in denim twist, two skeins of Lamb's Pride Bulky in mild violet and one skein of Paton's Classic Wool in #00226. The bottom row contains some left over Wool Ease Chunky in wheat, three skeins of Dive Teseo in #44146 and two skeins of Cascade 220 in # 9454.

Finally my stash of cotton yarn. The top row contains one ball of Peaches N' Cream in Ecru, one ball of Sugar N'Cream in cream and yellow, two in light blue and one each of red and dark pine. The middle row is all Sugar N' Cream - one ball each of natural ombre, pastel delight, butter cream ombre, strawberry, shaded denim and faded denim. The bottom row is all one ball of Sugar N' Cream in mistletoe, country side ombre, midnight magic and violet veil.

My stash is small compared to some other people's but I like it. On the knitting front I am hoping to finish the blanket this weekend - we'll see how that goes. Now I am off to make dinner and watch basketball - go Patriots! Until next time ....
